Review by hotel critic
Kamp Vira offers a decent escape for families looking for a beachside stay while exploring the stunning island of Hvar. We spent a solid 12 days here with our kids, camping alongside breathtaking views and a private beach that kept the little ones entertained. The location feels nice, but it’s a trek from Hvar town, which leans towards being inconvenient, especially when the weather turns. While the camp boasts clean facilities and a small, kid-friendly beach, it feels a tad overpriced given the overall offerings. The staff members, while friendly, seemed to struggle with maintaining order during peak hours. I’m a wildlife conservationist who deeply values ethical experiences, and I felt there was potential for more robust guest guidance in ensuring a peaceful environment. In terms of amenities, the camp lacks exciting options—don't expect hot water post-sunset, and the mini-market could use a serious upgrade. Instead of being at the forefront of southern Croatian camping, it felt more like a place that’s resting on its laurels. If you’re drawn to Hvar’s charm but also keen on the balance of budget and luxury, consider your options carefully.
